Take Advantage of These Rebates for Heat Pump Installation

checkmark-green

At Temprite Climate Solutions, we are not only in the business of helping people solve comfort problems in their homes. We also find ways to help our customers save energy with the installation of high-efficiency equipment. Making the upgrade to better energy efficiency doesn’t have to be as costly as you may believe: there are several rebates available that can significantly reduce costs.

Currently, CleanBC Better Homes and Home Renovation Rebate Program is offering several rebates to help customers install heat pumps to replace heating systems such as electric furnaces and fossil fuel furnaces (natural gas, oil, propane). Heat pumps are electric-powered systems that work at much greater energy efficiency than conventional alternatives—up to three to four times.

In addition, heat pumps are dual-function systems that operate as air conditioners during the summer. Heat pumps can be installed as either multi-split systems (similar to a conventional central air conditioning system) or as ductless mini-splits, which are excellent options for homes that lack the space for ductwork.

Below are the current available rebates for HVAC upgrades:

  • $1,000 if you install a mini- or multi-split heat pump in your house that’s heated with electricity supplies by BC Hydro.
  • $1,000 if you convert your wood or solid fuel heating system to a mini-split or multi-split heat pump.
  • $1,200 if you install a mini-split heat pump in your house that is heated with electricity supplied by FortisBC or municipal utility provider.
  • $2,000 if you install a multi-split heat pump in your home that is heated with electricity supplied by FortisBC or municipal utility provider.
  • $3,000 if you convert your fossil fuel heating system (oil, propane, or natural gas) to a mini- or multi-split heat pump.

In order for you to qualify for any of these rebates, the installation must be handled by a licensed professional with a GST number and a valid BC business license for the trade applicable to the upgrade being installed. Our team at Temprite has the necessary qualifications for the installation of mini- or multi-split heat pumps.

BC Hydro also offers rebates for energy efficiency upgrades in the Home Renovation Rebate program for customers who have high bills from using electric heating for their homes. You might qualify for this rebate if you use electric baseboards, a heat pump, or an electric furnace for your winter warmth. The efficiency upgrades include insulation, heat pumps, windows, and doors. Heat pump water heaters are exempt from the minimum electricity consumption requirement. Apartments and condos are not eligible for these rebates.
